2014 Youth Alliance Adolescent Health Action Council Micro-Grant Application
The New Mexico Forum for Youth in Community (NMFYC) and the New Mexico Youth Alliance (NMYA), in partnership with the New Mexico Department of Health Office of School and Adolescent Health (OSAH) is excited to announce the third annual Community Impact Project Seed Grant Application.
The goal of this Community Impact Project is to promote the positive youth development approach and adolescent health by peer to peer and youth-adult partnership in New Mexico. By youth engaging in these Youth-led projects it raises awareness of the powerful tool of youth leadership and youth engagement to assist in addressing community health issues.
Eligible Applicants: Any New Mexico Youth ages 14-24 who participate in school and/or a community-based organization interested in positive youth development and adolescent health. Special consideration will be given to communities working directly with School Based Health Centers to engage youth around teen health issues and/or to encourage youth participation on School Health Advisory Councils.
Amount of Funding Available: Ten (10) $1,200.00 micro-grants to be distributed across the state evenly in five regions. Special consideration will be given to four (4) additional projects funded at $2000 will which focus on Violence, Obesity, Substance Abuse, and Sexual Risk Taking Behaviors from Bernalillo, Doña Ana, McKinnley, and San Juan Counties.
Application deadline: December 31, 2013, 11:59 PM. Applicants can submit applications by email to adrian@nmforumforyouth.org, faxed to (505) 242-2776 or mailed.
Term of Support: We will assist applicants in developing and implementing their action plans by visiting their local communities and in any other way possible. Projects must begin implementation in January 2014 and must be completed by April 2014.
Application Instructions: Applications must be completed in full and sent to the New Mexico Youth Alliance by 11:59 pm on the application deadline. Applications must be written or typed. Proposals will be reviewed and selected by the Adolescent Health Action Council, a cohort of eight youth representative from across the state. All applicants will be notified within 7 days.
